117 - The Rings of Power: Prelude

As one fantasy shows starts, another one is about to begin! As Amazon's highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power debuts on Friday, we discuss the setting the show is based on: The Second Age of Middle-Earth.

Thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the races of men, dwarves and elves dominated the landscape in a time of great progression and establishment of powerful kingdoms. However in the darkness, the Dark Lord Sauron plans to restore evil to Middle Earth through a series of schemes that will lay the foundations for the War of the Ring.

In this prelude episode we cover the major events of this age, from the rise of Numenor, the creation of the Rings of Power to the War of the Last Alliance and discuss how they will be portrayed on the screen!
